Health authorities in Blantyre have confirmed that a scabies outbreak has hit the district.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Gift Kawalazira, Director of Health and Social Services, there have been about 255 cases from June until September this year.
According to the statement, South Lunzu, in Machinjiri is the most affected with 69 cases, Chichiri prison recorded 9 cases with 38 other cases diagnosed from mobile clinics and various locations in the city.
Kawalazira has advised people to avoiding crowded places and ensure personal hygiene especially during this summer, when cases are more prevalent.
