The Anti-Corruption Bureau- ACB has today arrested Elvis Thodi, former Chief Immigration Officer at the department of Immigration and Citizenship Services in relation to awarding of a contract to Abdul Karim Batawalala.
Yesterday, ACB also arrested, Limbani Chawinga, Deputy Head of Research and Planning at the department of Immigration.
Egrita Ndala Public Relations Officer for ACB, has told MIJ Online, that Chawinga is likely to be charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of conspiracy to defraud.
Thodi will answer charges of abuse of office, conspiracy to defraud, neglect to official duty and another count of presenting false information.
Meanwhile, Ndala has told us that the two will be taken to court once the bureau has concluded interviewing the suspects.
