On Thursday, the Ministry of Trade led in the awarding of certificates to companies who match the local and international quality requirements.
The event took place at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
In his remarks Minister of the Trade, Salim Bagus said the awarding of the certificates is a wakeup call to companies in the country who are still producing substandard and uncertified products.
He added that companies need to reckon it is that only quality products that attract interests from international markets stressing that this has a bearing on the national economy.
On his part, Board Chairperson of the Malawi Bureau of Standards, Dr. Dalitso Kafumba disclosed that the bureau will continue certifying products whose manufacturers meet the standards.
Up to 123 certificates were awarded to various companies at the event following the process that the bureau ignited late last year.
