Five family members torch businessman’s car

Police in Chikwawa have arrested a man and his four sons for allegedly torching a motor vehicle that belonged to a businessman whom they accuse of killing their relative.

Chikwawa Police Station spokesperson Dickson Matemba has identified the suspects as Windlos Kasakatiza, Kasakatiza Windlos, Windlos Kasakatiza Junior, Kamiliza Windlos, and Wilson Kasakatiza, all from Gaga Village Traditional Authority Chapananga in the district.

Matemba said the suspects were arrested following the fracas which ended into torching a motor vehicle Toyota Runix after accusing the owner that he had murdered their relative by the name of Kasakatiza Windlos who went to Mozambique on 25 December 2021 for his own reasons without informing his relatives.
Matemba said after noticing that he was not returning home in the same day they moblised themselves and set ablaze the motor vehicle before severely assaulting the owner and his relatives.
He said after receiving information police rushed to the scene and arrested the perpetrators.
They will soon be taken to the court to answer charges ranging from malicious damage to inciting violence and unlawful wounding .
