Captains of Industry have expressed hope for an improved agricultural business environment following the continued reduction in the Covid-19 cases in the country.
The expression of hope has been made during the official opening of the 17th Agriculture Fair at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in the commercial city of Blantyre.
The Agricultural fair that has been officially opened by President Lazarus Chakwera will run from today-12th November to Sunday 14th November 2021.
Speaking during the opening of the fair, president of the Malawi Chambers of Commerce and Industry-MCCCI James Chimwaza observed that last year was difficult for farmers, because of the pandemic that affected their operations.
Chimwaza has since pleaded with government to prioritise the agriculture sector, considering the fact that Malawi is an agro-based economy.
In his response to call, President Lazarus Chakwera pledged that his government will continue to prioritise the agriculture sector.
