Martha Chizuma, director general of the Anti-Corruption Bureau has been released on bail, the Malawi Police Service has said.
She has since been charged with, making use of speech capable of prejudicing a person against a party to judicial proceedings.
In a statement signed by Peter Kalaya, national police spokesperson, the service said the charge is contrary to Section 113(1)(d) of the penal code.
The arrest of Chizuma is said to be in connection with a complaint by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr Steve Kayuni, who alleged he was injured by allegations made by the ACB director general in a leaked audio clip earlier this year.
