The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is rolling out a new system aimed at ensuring that certifications issued in Malawi are recognized globally.
According to authorities the new system ISO/IEC 17065 will align MBS processes with international standards.
Speaking to MIJ Online Gloria Meleka, Director of Quality Assurance Services at MBS believes that the alignment with global standards will increase the acceptability of Malawian products in the global market through accreditation by SADC.
Meleka further indicated that this accreditation will assure consumers and importers that products certified by MBS meet global quality standards.
Meanwhile Meleka has highlighted the importance of increasing the scopes in the testing laboratory, which will lead to more accredited tests and increased recognition by other consumer assessment bodies and importers.
