So, here we go again for a news FDH Cup season this year. And so, more enticing games are just in the pipeline as the draw has been conducted today and the top guns will not meet so early at all but there will be three matches involving Super League teams.
The competition which starts next month will involve 32 teams with 16 coming from the Super League and the other 16 from the three regional leagues.
Based on the draw holders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, along with Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who lie in the sequence in the top tier will not play each other in any preliminary stages having been pitted with lower league sides.
But up on the pitch, there will be three Super League affairs between Blue Eagles and Red Lions, Karonga United and Kamuzu Barracks, Chitipa United, and Dedza Dynamos.
The holders will face Ndirande Stars first with Wanderers to start against Mpondas FC as Silver Strikers will open the campaign against Ntaja United.
Later, the winner between Bullets will play the winner of the match involving Balaka FC and Chilumba Barracks.
The Nomads or Mpondasi FC will meet the winner between Zingwangwa United and Mayamiko Stars while Silver or Ntaja will play Moyale or Iponga FC from Karonga.
This year, the FDH Bank has raised the prize money from MK25 Million to MK30 Million.
Premier division teams will also be motivated with cash amounting to MK700 000 and a set of a uniform for making it to the national level.
Last year Bullets claimed the honors following a resounding 3-1 win over Bullets Reserves before a stand was made by the Football Association to bar all reserve sides from advancing to national round.
According to the FAM competitions committee, the round of 32 will start on 17th June.
DH Bank Senior Marketing Manager Ronald Chimchere said: ”We are so excited that the run is back against. We expect quite a big competition and that is why we have recently hiked the prize money.”
