Old town rivals, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will not be facing each other in the quarterfinals of the FDH Cup after the sides avoided an early match up after today’s last eight draw held at Chiwembe in Blantyre.
Bullets will be facing Chitipa United while the Nomads will line up against Kamuzu Barracks.
The Nomads reach this level, at the back of a 3-0 win over Dedza Dynamos.
Bullets have managed to reach this round after a 4-2 post match penalties win over Moyale Barracks as fans were treated to a 4 all draw after regulation time.
In another interesting match, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will be in action against top flight league side Blue Eagles.
Bullets Reserves has so far knocked out two Super League sides Mighty Tigers and Red Lions.
On the other hand, Changalume Barracks, which eliminated Mafco FC and Karonga United, will meet fellow Premier Division side, Extreme FC.
The games are expected to be played on the weekend of 20th to 21st August, 2022.
Speaking to MIJ Online after the draw, Football Association of Malawi Vice President Justice Jabbar Alide said they are satisfied until now with the progress of the campaign.
According to Alide, the FA will continue to work all stakeholders to ensure that the competition runs smoothly until the final.
On his part, FDH Bank Head of Marketing and Communications Levi Nkunika said the bank is delighted with the fact that lower league sides have also been exceptional.
‘’We take gratitude with the fact that lower league teams are making such huge progress in vbreaking the records in this competition. That is what we want to be associated with the campaign,’’ he said.
The first edition of the competition was won by Silver Strikers who have meanwhile bowed out having lost to Dedza Dynamos.
The champions will get K25 million plus a trophy while the runners-up will pocket K8 million.
