Tobacco commission introduces field licensing exercise

High expectations have been raised of improved operations of the tobacco industry following the introduction of a field licensing exercise for tobacco growers for the 2022-2023 season.

The field licensing project aspires to reduce the distance tobacco grower’s travel to licence their services by deploying officers to local communities to register the farmers.

Speaking to MIJ Online Telephorus Chigwenembe, Spokesperson for Tobacco Commission said the licencing service is expected to run for four weeks.

According to Chigwenembe, the introduction of the exercise will go a long way in improving operations of the sector as tobacco farmers no longer need to travel to Lilongwe, Kasungu, Mzuzu and Limbe floors to access licensing services.
