Chakwera fires shots on former leaders on ‘economic rhetoric’
President Lazarus Chakwera has dared former leaders at different levels to stop advancing messages portraying the country’s economic turmoil as being a result of the current leadership.
He made the scathing remarks during the launch of an agricultural mechanization initiative which is aimed at modernizing and transforming the sector.

Addressing the gathering Chakwera said that the leaders who claim to have the answers to the economic woes hard-hitting the country are the ones who plundered the resources and left it in the current precarious position.
He said there is rather need for national unity for the country to address its challenges.
Meanwhile Chakwera believes that agricultural mechanization will help to reduce labor and increase yields as huge part of land will be easily cultivated.
And on his part, Pedro Braga Vice President for Philip Morris International said the innovative program will highly support Malawi tobacco farmers.
According to Braga they have provided seed capital funding for the purchase of 23 tractors and implements which will be owned by the entrepreneurs, after repaying their loans after 5 years.
Meanwhile Ron Ngwira Managing Director for PYXUS said as an implementing partner they believe that revising policy and also reducing taxes will help mechanisation to be achieved in the country.
On the other hand, Sam Kawale Minister of Agriculture says the mechanisation initiative will help to attain sustainable and agriculture driven economy without hitches.
