Police in Mangochi have arrested a 35-year-old man identified as Anthony Binoliyasi for allegedly killing his 67-year-old biological father after a heated row between them.
The police have identified the deceased as Genesali Binoliyasi of Kumbeni Village, Traditional Authority Lulanga in the district.
Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Amina Daudi says Binoliyasi was murdered after a disagreement which started when he barred the suspect from cutting sugar cane in his garden.
“The directive angered the suspect who went into the kitchen and took a hoe handle with which he hit his father in the head,” Daudi has said.
The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at Mangochi District Hospital where he was referred to for treatment.
