Shortage of cholera testing kits reported in public hospitals

Government has admitted that there is shortage of the tests equipment’s for cholera disease in some districts.

This follows reports that some district hospitals are running out of laboratory testing equipment for the disease.

At the moment, eighteen out of twenty-eight districts in the country have been affected by cholera.

Speaking to MIJ Online, spokesperson in the ministry of health Adrian Chikumbe said government is aware of the shortage of the tests and it is at the moment using clinical diagnosis.

He has since called for adherence of hygiene practices to avoid the spread of the disease.
