Government says it will not further ease Covid – 19 restrictions amidst low uptake of vaccines in the country.
According to Wilfred Chalamira Nkhoma, Co-chairperson for the Covid-19 taskforce, 15% of the country’s population has so far been vaccinated against a target of 70%.
With this, Nkhoma has told MIJ FM that government is not considering to continue lifting Covid19 restrictions as doing so would put more lives at risks at a time the immunization rate remains low.
Besides – the chairperson urged the citizenry to ensure they observe preventive measures such as wearing of face masks and regular hand washing if the nation is to contain further spread of the coronavirus.
