Super League of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya has dispelled reports that he still holds the role of Vice President of Nyasa Big Bullets.
This is in the wake of viral social media posts by some football fans who claim Haiya has not yet resigned after being elected into the mantle of Sulom earlier this year.
The social media users had accused him of being in conflict of interest, fears that he has described as unfounded because he ‘left the role’.
‘’After my election as Sulom leader, I made a pledge to leave the tasks at Bullets. As I told you, then, I quit at that time and I remain fully focused on working to improving our league. That is all,’’ he said.
He has since said that the people posting such claims may rather have malicious intentions.
Haiya was elected at the expense of the then holder Tiya Somba Banda at polls held in Mangochi in February this year.
Under his tutelage, Sulom now has a fully fletched secretariat, a landmark he says signals a change in the administration of the league.
