MBC takes the World Cup to Malawians

The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has now launched its FIFA 2022 World Cup its broadcast campaign with a call for the corporate world to join.

The FIFA World cup is in sight from November 20 to December 18 in Qatar.

Speaking during the launch at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, MBC Director General George Kasakula disclosed that the station will air the tournament through MBC TV on the Go and MBC Radio 2FM.

‘’As a public broadcaster, we saw it wise to bring the populous this global tournament through our packages. This, therefore, gives our partners an opportunity to reach out to potential and existing customers and also market their products. As MBC, we are very committed to our customers. We have a duty to entertain Malawians in line with our duties,” said Kasakula.

The move has since been highly commended by the Football Association of Malawi.

FAM President Walter Nyamilandu said the gesture will go a long way in taking Malawians into the game and that several lessons will also be drawn from players and those that are just maturing.

“We have told MBC that this is a welcome development. Youngsters and clubs will be out to learn some tactics and imitate their idols. Great to see that the national broadcaster is progressive minded by optimizing value from football, ‘’ he said.

African champions Senegal lead the continent’s five representatives at the finals alongside Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia.
