The country’s electoral body Mec has called for a National Elections Consultative Forum (Necof) meeting over the ordered fresh presidential election.
The development comes as political parties and some electoral stakeholders have been challenging the competency of Mec commissioners.
Meanwhile, the Center for Multiparty Democracy which represents all political parties has confirmed that it has received an invitation to the Necof meeting which is scheduled on Friday.
However, Kandi Padambo, chairperson for the Center for Multiparty Democracy has said the invitation is not showing a venue of the meeting.
Padambo said Mec will also meet political parties’ representatives tomorrow ahead of the Friday’s Necof meeting.
Meanwhile, three people who are calling themselves concerned citizens have filed an application for leave for judicial review against the failure by President Peter Mutharika to fire Mec commissioners.
The three are Thokozani Chenjezi, George Ngwira and Aaron Kayira.
Lawyer for the three, George Kadzipatike has said the concerned citizens have also applied for an injunction to restrain Mec commissioners from working pending the judicial review.
