A 14-year-old girl identified as Tiyanjane Makungwa, has committed suicide in Mulanje for reasons authorities and family members say are unknown.
Mulanje Police Station spokesperson, Gresham Ngwira says the mother to the girl, Melenia Makungwa only discovered that the girl hung herself when she had gone to take a nap around lunch time.
Police together with a medical officer from Mulanje District Hospital visited the scene where postmortem singled out suffocation as cause of death.
The deceased came from Mtowa Village, Senior Chief Chikumbu in the district.
