Activists to hold demos against President Chakwera on Friday

Preparations are underway for demonstrations that aim at forcing president Lazarus Chakwera to fire some key officials from his Tonse administration.

This follows the expiry of a 14 day-ultimatum a group of concerned civil rights activists had given Chakwera to discharge the officials from duty.

The officials are Steven Kayuni – Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda – Attorney General and Dr George Kainja, Inspector General of Police.

According to Phunziro Mvula, a representative of the alliance, the three … need to be removed from their respective offices due their alleged interference in the operations of the Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB.

Mvula has since disclosed to MIJ Online, that they have picked 29th April as the day their protests will be held, with vigils to follow later from 4th May 2022.
