Airtel Africa Plc has reported strong growth for the quarter ending 30 June 2026, with the company’s customer base increasing to 189 million, representing an 11.6 percent growth
The company says data customers grew by 15.5 percent to 87.3 million, while data usage per customer increased from 7.8GB to 10.6GB per month over the past year.
This contributed to a 56.3 percent increase in data traffic across its network.
Airtel Africa says smartphone penetration reached 51 percent as more customers adopt digital services.
The company’s mobile money platform, Airtel Money, also recorded growth, with annualised total processed value increasing by 51.5 percent to more than 245 billion US dollars.
Financially, Airtel Africa recorded revenue growth of 31 percent to 1.85 billion US dollars, supported by growth in mobile services and mobile money.
Mobile services revenue grew by 19.1 percent, while mobile money revenue increased by 25.8 percent.
Sunil Taldar , Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa plc said the company’s focus on customer experience, digital adoption, data and artificial intelligence was supporting sustainable growth.
Airtel Africa operates in several African markets, including Malawi.
