In quest to promote youth engagement on mental issues and other challenges affecting their daily lives, the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi-ADSM it set to launch annual Diocesan Youth Day on 26 November in Chiradzulu district.
In an interview with MIJ Online, Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Captain Tiyanjana Banda the two day event annual event shall be celebrated on the basis of bringing the youth of the diocese together with the aim of promoting participation, and interaction on various issues facing their daily life ranging from mental health due to one’s upbringing, substance abuse, socio-economic hardships and trauma among others.
He said: “the day will be also characterised by youth life lessons, testimonies, presentations by both church’s Men and Women including other guilds, award presentations, motivational speeches, courtship, entrepreneurship, music from Kelvin Sings.
The event will enhance skills, talents from the different places across the diocese ranging from 12 to 35 years to prepare them to be reliable citizens to the country to align themselves to the 2063 vision goal as they the future” he said.
10, 000 active youth in the Diocese from over 35 parishes and outstations are expected to participate to the event under the theme, “Youth Engagement: A tool for Church Growth”.
