Gama: There are positives.

The project is aimed at scaling up landscape restoration and improve watershed services.

Gama told MIJ Online that the department targets the restoration of 4.4 million hectares of land by 2030 to address landscape and environmental degradation.
She disclosed that through the MWASIP project, the department has already restored 2,818.9 hectares out of the targeted 13,163 hectares.
Meanwhile MWASIP has so far disbursed over K9 million to 66 farmers in Ntcheu district under the grants component which aims at providing incentives to communities involved in forest co-management.
