Lawyer for business man Abdul Karim Batatawala has accused the Anti-Corruption Bureau of dumping his client in a police cell instead of interrogating him.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Alex Nampota, said his client was arrested on Wednesday at 12 noon and instead of questioning him , the bureau kept him for 5hrs and later “dumped” him in a police cell at 5 pm.
Nampota said his client has major health problems which includes heart and blood pressure which he claims resurfaced when he was in a police cell.
He further said today up until 12 noon the bureau had not recorded a caution statement from Batatawala which triggered the existing health conditions and got worse while in a police cell.
Meanwhile, Nampota has said Batatawala has been hospitalized after the doctors saw the critical nature of his condition.
