The Institute of Internal Auditors of Malawi (IIAM) has expressed its commitment towards improving the performance of Internal Auditors in the country.
The commitment from the IIAM’s President Alick Mwale, was expressed earlier today in the lakeshore district of Mangochi, during the official opening of the institute’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
From today, the AGM is scheduled to run until Saturday 9th August 2025, under a theme: “Governance and Internal Audit Synergy: Building Sustainable Solutions for Organisational Development.”
During the AGM, Mwale said the membership of the institute will, among other key issues, discuss challenges affecting the profession and their plausible solutions.
And in an interview with MIJ Online, Mwale said the institute’s strategic direction is to ensure that the Internal Auditors are skilled in various financial operations of their companies and organisations, considering the current ever-changing economic and technological trends.
Concurring with Mwale was Thokozike Kuwali, chairperson for the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors, who asked the Internal Auditors to build resilience in the ever-changing economic environment for the survival of their companies and organisations.
Speaking as guest of honour, Dr Kwanele Ngwenya, Group Chief Operations Officer for Nico Holdings asked the participants to the AGM to implement whatever will be discussed during meeting.
