Bus shelters stolen across Blantyre

Bus shelters across Blantyre have been stolen by people disguised as city council workers, authorities say.

The affected stretch runs from Limbe to Blantyre.

For weeks now, there have been questions by people on the status of the shelters with an initial belief that they were under maintenance.

But, the Blantyre City Council, says efforts are now underway along with the Malawi Police Service to recover the shelters.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Deborah Luka, Spokesperson for Blantyre City Council has said the council is taking the measures with police to bring the culprits to book.

She has since asked the residents of Blantyre to desist from being involved in all the activities that will lead to the destruction of public property.
