The Small-Scale Business Operators Association of Malawi is demanding the resignation of Minister of Homeland security Jean Sendeza for reportedly failing to live by her directive on refuges relocation exercise.
The remarks come as earlier the minister disclosed that government will finish the process of removing the refugees and asylum seekers who are residing in rural areas back to Dzaleka refugee camp by 30 November this year.
The ministry had also said that the process of relocating the refugees and asylum seekers back to the refugee camp will be done by 2 February 2023.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Tennyson Mulimbula General secretary for the Small-Scale Business Operators Association of Malawi says the association is worried by the delay as many refugees and asylum seekers are still plying their businesses in the area’s they are residing.
Mulimbula has since said that the association will take an unspecified action to fasten the process.
The association has been rallying against operations of refuges most of whose businesses are allegedly not registered as it were.
