Calls continue for effective disaster response in Malawi

Stakeholders have emphasized the need to strengthen efforts intended to improve disaster response measures in the country.

The appeal comes amidst an ongoing disaster risk management project in Chikwawa district which is being implemented by the Norwegian Church Aid.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Augustine Pempho Tonde, Senior Humanitarian Officer at Norwegian Church Aid Malawi expressed delight with progress of the project.

According to Tonde , it is pleasant to note growing interest from local communities to take part in planning processes aimed at ensuring success of the venture.

Besides, the officer has called for concerted efforts in improving the country’s preparedness to disasters , arguing this was key to safeguard the well-being of Malawians residing in disaster prone areas.
