Institutions of higher learning have been challenged to align their programs to the national development agenda if the country is to register meaningful economic development.
The sentiments have been as stakeholders in the education sector have been encouraged to intensify programs that are in line with currently global trends for economic growth.
In an interview with MIJ Online, Professor Bernard Kamanga, Deputy vice chancellor of the University of Livingstonia said investing in youth with advanced education and technology is crucial and changing the country’s social economic status.
Kamanga has then disclosed plans by the university of introducing the faculty of agriculture that will focus much on agri-sciences.
Meanwhile Don Whayo, board chairperson of the Technical Entrepreneurial and vocational education has disclosed plans of incorporating advanced programs that will make Malawi an exporting country.
