President Lazarus Chakwera says he has ordered National Oil Company of Malawi – NOCMA, ministry of Energy and Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority – MERA to address fuel shortage as soon as possible.
Chakwera says, he was engaged in a meeting with the offices until midnight discussing the fuel problem that has affected the Nation.
According to Chakwera, he has ordered that the offices work tirelessly to resolve the problem.
Malawi has been experiencing fuel shortage for days now.
Chakwera has also blamed the blackouts the country is experiencing as being a result of dysfunctional ESCOM, EGENCO and Power Market Limited – PML.
He has however banked hopes on the Mpatamanga Power Agreement that was signed yesterday with development partners.
He says, this will improve electricity supply and bring into the country investors.
