Cotton Farmers Association of Malawi has expressed concern over the declining number of cotton farmers in the country, due to the continued unavailability of good quality cotton seeds.
This comes at a time when the 2025/26 cotton marketing season is coming to an end at the end of August.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Lapson Zidana, President of the Association, said farmers have struggled for the past 3 years with cotton seeds that do not germinate well.
This has made many farmers lose interest in cotton farming.
Zidana has therefore assured the farmers that efforts are being made to ensure availability and access of hybrid cotton seed for the next growing season.
