The Magistrate court in Blantyre has convicted five men over the sale of Ambuye Ntengeni, days after the beer killed eight people.
The beer also being referred to as Magagada has been in the limelight after eight people died of it at the weekend.
Delivering his sentence senior resident magistrate – Gift Msume convicted the five to a maximum of three and a minimum of two months each respectively.
They are: Godfrey Kapamula aged 42, George Chitala 53, Isaac Misomala aged 36, Luciano Mayela aged 20 and Kelvin Chingakule aged 25.
However, the magistrate has given them fines as an alternative to escape imprisonment.
