The Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) has expressed a concern with continued theft of medical drugs in the country saying, this is leading to shortage of medicine in public hospitals.
This comes as Police in Lilongwe have arrested a Tanzanian national, Josephat Kamundu, after he was allegedly found in unlawful possession of various medical drugs and surgical equipment at Falls Estate in the district.
Speaking to MIJ Online, George Jobe, Executive Director for the Network emphasized that, this misconduct is making the poor to die with diseases due to lack of medicine in public hospitals.
Jobe has therefore urged Malawians to report all people suspected of stealing medical drugs to police inorder to end this practice.
