Egenco uses 10 Billion Kwacha in Kapichira restoration exercise

Power generator, Egenco has disclosed that it has used about 10 billion kwacha in restoration of 50 percent megawatts at Kapichira power plant.

The facility has not been functioning since February last year when part of the site was destroyed by cyclone Anna cemented by the recent tropical cyclone Freddy.

Speaking to MIJ Online William Liabunya –Chief Executive Officer for Egenco says the body is now planning to start the phase two of the exercise.

Liabunya has also expressed optimism that the development will improve electricity supply in the country.

“Our team has been committed working day and night since last year to ensure that Malawians get the electricity which they deserve. Currently, only two machines are operational and the remaining two will commence functioning soon,” said Liabunya.
