Experts cast doubt on Malawi’s immediate economic growth

Economic Expert Hopkins Kawaye has cast doubt on the immediate movement of Malawi from a group of least developed countries to the middle-income countries.

This follows remarks by her excellency Heid Schroderus-Fox, Acting High Representative for Least Developed Countries at United Nations who said that Malawi has shown interest to adopt policies to help it move from least developed countries.

Currently, President Lazarus Chakwera is in America to attend the Fifth UN Least Developed Countries Conference.

Meanwhile, the development partner has said is impressed with the commitment the country has shown to graduate from least developed country.

But speaking to MIJ Online, Kawaye said the movement can only be immediate if the country improves on its exports and tame corruption.
