The Ministry of Water and Sanitation has hailed the efforts by the Blantyre Water Board towards the fight against Cholera in areas under its jurisdiction.
This was said by Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia during a routine tour in Zingwangwa Township in Blantyre to appreciate how the Board is complementing government’s fforts towards the fight against Cholera.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Mia says the ministry is satisfied with strategies in place especially in the low income areas where the people use communal kiosks.
On his part, Joe Ching’ani, Board Chairperson for Blantyre Water Board says the board has embarked on several strategies that are aimed at improving accessibility of clean and portable water to all its customers to prevent the spread of the Cholera in the district which is mainly associated with poor sanitation.
Ching’ani added that, they have also strengthened efforts towards improving the service delivery of Water Users Association so that people will be able to access clean and portable water.
