A good governance advocate, Centre for Public Accountability has asked the Ministry of Agriculture to withdraw its decision of appointing Mike Tyson as Malawi’s Cannabis ambassador.
In a letter that MIJ Online, has seen being addressed to Mike Tyson, signed by Lobin Lowe Minister of Agriculture has appointed Tyson as an ambassador for the country’s Cannabis.
Meanwhile, the ministry has said it has opted for Tyson due to his experience in the Cannabis business.
But, Center for Public Accountability through its Acting Director, Kondwani Munthali has told MIJ Online, that Tyson is not a good candidate as he has a criminal record.
According to Munthali, Tyson was convict and imprisoned for years of sexual assault in 1992.
With this Munthali is of the view that it is not right for the country’s products to be promoted by someone who was once a sex offender.
