Govt facing condemnation over board members allowance hike

Government has been blamed for increasing the allowances for parastatal board members by over fifty percent.

The blame follows a statement by the department of statutory corporations, indicates that the allowances for the board chairpersons has been revised from K600,000 to K1 Million, while allowances have been revised from K600 thousand to K900 thousand per every board meeting.

Commenting on the development, Wonderful Mkhutche a good governance expert blamed government for untimely making such revisions.

Mkhutche further described the move as political, as the increment will not affect the operations of the parastatals in either way.
