Government has announced the recruitment and promotion of two thousand five hundred ninety-nine 2,599 secondary school teachers across the country.
This comes as teachers have been decrying failure by government to employ and promote others with valid qualifications.
In a statement which is in custody of MIJ Online, signed by Chikondano Mussa Secretary for Education says that government has recruited and promoted teachers in disciplines of: Sciences, Languages, Humanities, Technical Education and Special Needs Education.
According to Mussa the recruitment of over one thousand (1,000) teachers represents the largest recruitment of secondary school teachers by government in the country’s history.
“The names of successful teachers have already been sent to all the six (6) Education Division offices where candidates can access the results.
“Successful teachers are therefore requested to: (i) immediately report to the Divisions under which they are appearing for deployment details; and (ii) start working the week beginning today, Monday, 28th March, 2022”. Reads part of the statement.
She added that government will continue on reducing the current high Student-Teacher ratio to improve the quality of education across all education subsectors
