Grouping issues monthlong ultimatum on AIP mess

A grouping of youths under the banner Youth Pillar Anti-Corruption Drive has given government a month-long ultimatum to immediately halt and institute inquiry into the controversial fertilizer purchase for this year’s Affordable Inputs Program AIP.

This follows reports that suggest that due procurement procedures have not been followed surrounding the 128 billion kwacha deal that government entered into the purchase of fertilizer with Romanian Pharmaceutical company of East Bridge.

Speaking to MIJ online Rebecca Hami, Representative for National Youth Pillar Anti-Corruption Drive said lack of due diligence on the new fertilizer purchase deal raises concerns on possible abuse of public resources.

According to Hami, with this there is need for government to forthwith stop all processes around the program and that there should be inquiry done on it.

Hami added that the painful part of the whole deal is that the youths will be the one in trouble in the future to sort out all the loans that the government is accumulating.
