Judicial review on Chizuma case adjourned

The high court in Lilongwe has adjourned to 20th May hearing of a judicial review case involving Martha Chizuma- Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Today, the high court was expected to review an earlier ruling by the magistrate court which ordered the Malawi Police Service and the Director of Public Prosecutions to investigate Chizuma in relation to a leaked audio conversation in which she detailed about corruption fight in the country.

However, hearing of the case has been postponed after the Director of Public Prosecution – Steve Kayuni – requested for the adjournment, saying the state is not ready to proceed with the case.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Memory Kaukonde, one of the lawyers representing Chizuma said they have accepted the postponement as both parties need to be prepared for the case.
