Thousands of people thronged Chapananga in Chikwawa district in marking last respects to former sports minister Moses Dossi today.
Dossi died aged 70 days ago.
Speaking during the funeral ceremony, chairperson for the Malawi National council of sports Sundizwayo Madise said the late Doss has left a mark on the nation.
“This departed hero wrote a book of sports in 1992 before he joined politics and after serving people as politician he returned to sports. I knew him while at tender age. He contributed a lot to the sports of the country and no wonder many people have come today to cerebrate his life and his achievements towards sports and particular football, ” he said.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Fleetwood Haiya described Dossi as the fountain of wisdom to the football cycle in the country.
Haiya said they are challenged to follow footsteps of deceased.
Speaking in a separate interview, Mighty Tigers technical director, Ruben Alufandika said Dossi was a selfless man who provided help to people in so many aspects of life.
A renowned commentator Steve Liwewe Banda who works with the Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation said Dossi inspired many commentators.
Present at the funeral ceremony were Minister of Lands Deus Gumbwa who represented Lazarus Chakwera, Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Information and Digitalization and Government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia, speaker of the parliament Catherine Gotani Hara, deputy minister of local government Owen Chomanika leader of United Democratic Front Lilian Patel, leader of Democratic Progressive Party in parliament, members of parliament across the country and some chiefs led by Paramount Chief Lundu.
Dossi was born on May 5, 1953 and succumbed to hepatitis at Blantyre Advent Hospital.
