The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has begun dispatching ballot papers to constituencies, a process expected to run until September 11, starting with the 60 furthest constituencies.
MEC received the final batch of ballot papers on Friday, September 5, ahead of voting day on September 16, 2025.
Speaking to MIJ Online, MEC Chairperson Anabel Mtalimanja said the commission has secured both fuel and security for the vehicles transporting the materials.
She added that once ballot papers arrive in constituencies, they will be kept under tight security and will only be moved to polling stations on September 12.
Meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ICT specialist, Markford Somanje, stressed the need for transparency and accountability throughout MEC’s processes.
