President Peter Mutharika has described regional summits as essential for tackling the pressing issues facing Southern Africa.
The President made the statement after attending a virtual meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
In his statement, he stressed that these gatherings are vital for strengthening cooperation among member states.
In his address, President Mutharika called for regional unity to ensure states are stable and focused on development.
Speaking as the head of SADC’s security organ, he singled-out the political tension in Madagascar as an urgent matter that requires a collective response to restore peace.
