NEEF for innovations in farming

The National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) says it intends to build a factory in Ntcheu to process Irish potatoes into chips and crisps.

This initiative aims to empower local farmers by purchasing their potatoes at a higher value, rather than selling them raw.

According to Dan Chakhaza, NEEF’s Public Relations Officer, Ntcheu was chosen due to its suitable climate for Irish potato cultivation and the presence of dedicated farmers.

“The project is expected to create jobs and generate foreign exchange through exports. NEEF will conduct a six-month feasibility study to determine the viability of the project, ” Chakhaza has told MIJ Online.
