Nocma gets high ratings on certification

National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) has been awarded a 3-Star certification after an audit carried out at its Strategic Fuel Reserves depots by National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA).

NOSA, a South African Based Company which implements a 5-star certification system based on International Standards conducted an audit at the following fuel strategic reserves; Matindi in Blantyre; Kanengo in Lilongwe and Sonda in Mzuzu.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Chisomo Mwamadi NOCMA’s Public Relations Officer, said the award means that the Company’s depots are increasingly becoming safer place to work at, and conduct business despite being an environment that often involves working with fuels, heavy equipment, hazardous materials and high-pressure equipment among others.

“We are excited that NOCMA’s depots continue to be characterized by a declining rate of accidents, zero-rate of occupational related illnesses; increased fire safety and preparedness’’ said Mwamadi.
