Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) has reaffirmed commitment to continue supporting country’s rich cultural heritage.
This comes as the company has donated K20 million in support of the Umthetho Cultural Festival which is a traditional event that takes place annually at Hora Heritage Site in Mzimba District.
Speaking to MIJ Online Steve Munthali, NMC’s Head of Sales and Marketing, said that the company’s support for the festival is driven by its belief in the power of tradition and cultural pride.
According to Munthali, as a local company that adds value to Malawi’s home-grown tobacco, NMC feels a deep connection to the land and its people, who are primarily tobacco growers.
Munthali explained that the company’s commitment to culture extends beyond sponsorship and that supporting the Umthetho Cultural Festival is one way of giving back to the community.
“We are deeply connected to this land and its people, hence supporting the event from its inception,” he said.
NMC is a well-established corporate citizen in Malawi, with a strong presence in the tobacco industry through its subsidiary Nyasa Tobacco.
