Opposition members in Parliament are demanding that minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe to come in the House and present a Statement on the status of the Affordable Input Program – AIP.
The concern comes as Lowe has not been coming to Parliament since last week which according to the Opposition bench is worrisome.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Ben Phiri, Thyolo Central Member of Parliament who is also opposition DPP MP, said it is important that the minister of Agriculture comes to Parliament and give a Statement on the status of AIP saying the situation out there is not good.
According to Phiri, rains have already started in some parts of the country but suppliers have not yet commenced the supplying of the inputs.
He said what is happening now is re recipe for disaster.
But Kezzie Msukwa, Government Chief Whip has told the MPs to raise their questions saying the deputy minister is available to respond.
