The Blantyre Water Board has disclosed that over 500 applications have been filed for free water connection.
Earlier this month, Abida Mia, minister of Water and Sanitation- launched the free water connection initiative, which aims at improving clean water accessibility.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Evelyn Khonje Public Relations Officer for Blantyre Water Board, said the board has received close to 800 requests for free water connection.
While, describing the figures low as expected, Khonje has told us that the figures are anticipated to rise in due course.
Meanwhile, Khonje has said the connections will start as soon as the board has the required materials.
