The Ministry of Agriculture- has disclosed that only ninety out of one hundred sixty-four suppliers for Affordable Inputs Program-AIP have signed their contracts.
The disclosure form Grecian Lungu– spokesperson of the ministry -comes as most beneficiaries of the program are yet to start redeeming the cheap inputs – despite the program being launched three weeks ago.
It also comes amidst fears – that the program will be disrupted because of the delays.
Speaking to MIJ Online Lungu– said currently there are only a few selling points because it is only Admarc and Smallholder Fertiliser Revolving Fund of Malawi which are on the markets in a few districts of Chiradzulu- Neno – Thyolo – Mulanje-Blantyre and some parts of Blantyre.
Lungu said there could have been a lot of suppliers on the market- if all the sellers had signed their contracts.
