Over two thousand unemployed nurses who are working as interns in public hospitals, have threatened that from July 15th, they will start boycotting their work in order to force government to fully recruit them.
Speaking to MIJ online, Chairperson for the Unemployed Nursing Officers, Frank Kamwendo said the move to start boycotting work has been arrived at after noticing that authorities are not taking heed of their concerns.
Kamwendo has further warned of countrywide demonstrations should continue to ignore their pleas.
However, Spokesperson in the Ministry of Health, Adrian Chikumbe has feigned ignorance on the planned strike.
He has since expressed fear that should the intern nurses proceed with their plans, health services delivery in public health facilities will negatively be affected.
Meanwhile, Chikumbe has said the recruitment procedures involve different ministries not only the ministry of health.
